Introduction to the Chinese Labor Law Series

Charles WANG, Esq*

The current labor law in China, which provides general rights and obligations of the relationship between an employer and an employee, is a reflection of the balance between employer and employee. It addresses basic protective measures for the employee, collective agreements, labor disputes and the procedure for disputes settlement.

The Labor arbitration center and the people’s court serve as the official tribunal in which labor disputes are settled or adjudicated. The accessibility of the labor arbitration is ensured by its exemption from any payment of fees and costs.

In the following articles, the attorneys from WZW & Partners will introduce some of the features of the Labor Law in China with the aim of providing an overview both to employers and employees regarding their basic rights and duties.
